Four weeks to find out where AI is worth building in your business.
The Opportunity Evaluation is a fixed-fee, fixed-date engagement that answers one question: where does AI create value in your business, and what would it cost? It ends with a costed, prioritized roadmap and a working prototype of the top opportunity.
Some firms call this an AI readiness assessment. Ours is run by the engineers who would build the systems, tested on your own documents and finished with software you can see working.
Fixed fee. Fixed dates. No obligation to continue.
What you have at the end of the four weeks
- 01
A map of the work
The workflows in scope, mapped with the teams who do them, including volumes, cycle times and where the time actually goes.
- 02
Opportunities sized on your numbers
Each opportunity sized against your real volumes and cycle times, so the expected return rests on your numbers rather than an industry average.
- 03
Feasibility on your documents
Feasibility tested on a sample of your own documents and data, which shows what accuracy is achievable before anyone commits to a build.
- 04
A costed roadmap
Each opportunity's cost, risk and expected return, in priority order, including the ones we recommend you buy instead or leave alone.
- 05
A working prototype
A working prototype of the top opportunity, running on your documents, so the roadmap starts from something real.
What we need from you
- Time with the people who do the work, for interviews and walkthroughs of the workflows in scope.
- A sample of real documents for those workflows, shared under an NDA through a channel your team chooses.
- Volumes and cycle times, even rough ones, so that each opportunity can be sized.
What happens after the four weeks
You decide what happens next, with no obligation to continue. A strong case becomes a proposal for a production build, and either way you keep the roadmap, the prototype and the findings.
Three steps, and the first one is a conversation.
- 01
A 30-minute call
The call is with an engineer rather than a salesperson, who will ask about volumes, systems and where the work piles up.
- 02
A free written point of view
Within a week, and at no cost, you receive our view of the two or three opportunities we think are real, roughly what each is worth and what it would take.
- 03
Only then, a proposal
This is usually a 4-week evaluation with a fixed fee and fixed dates, and if we do not see a case for one, we will tell you that instead.
Questions about the evaluation
- What does the evaluation cost?
- The fee is fixed and agreed in writing before the evaluation starts. It depends mainly on how many workflows are in scope, and you will have the figure after the first call.
- What if you find nothing worth building?
- Then you have that conclusion in writing, with the reasons, before spending money on a vendor or a build.
- Who does the work?
- The work is done by the same senior engineers who would build the system, so there is no junior team and no hand-off between the evaluation and the build.
- Will you recommend building everything?
- The roadmap recommends buying wherever a product is better and leaving alone whatever is not worth automating. The roadmap we built for a top-50 P&C brokerage, for instance, is saving the firm millions of dollars in vendor fees it did not need to pay.
- Can we start with a single workflow?
- A narrow evaluation focused on one workflow is a sensible start when the problem is already clear, and the scope is agreed before the evaluation begins.
- How is our data handled during the evaluation?
- Documents are shared under an NDA, through a channel agreed with your team rather than the contact form, and they are used only for the evaluation.
A senior team that has done this before
We are a small, entirely senior team with fifty years of combined AI engineering, multiple granted patents and Y Combinator founders, from Yale, MIT, McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft and Vista Equity Partners. The people who scope your work are the people who write the code.
Selected work
We built the AI transformation roadmap for a top-50 P&C brokerage, and it is saving the firm millions of dollars in vendor fees it did not need to pay.
Clients include some of the largest banks, RIAs, fintechs and AI labs, as well as a top-3 P&C carrier, a top-10 P&C brokerage, a top-5 trucking brokerage, a leading specialty MGA and a leading trucking MGA.
We run only 3 to 5 engagements at a time, so that every client works directly with the senior team.
About the team- Dozens
- of insurance companies, RIAs, banks and fintechs we have worked with
- 50 yrs
- combined AI engineering experience
- 10+ Patents
- granted to members of the team
- 100%
- of the IP we build is assigned to you
The first step is a 30-minute call with an engineer.
Tell us what you have in mind, and within a week you will have a free written point of view on whether an evaluation is worth your time and when we could start.
