Bluegrass

AI for lenders, from the first document in a loan file to the last payment.

Bluegrass builds production AI systems for consumer, commercial and commercial real estate lenders that take over document work and routine conversations across the life of a loan. Each system runs in your own environment and belongs to you.

Lending runs on documents that must be read exactly and on conversations and decisions that regulators and investors expect to see recorded. Every system follows your procedures, leaves credit decisions with your people and records how each piece of work was done.

What we build for lenders

Other systems we build

Loan pool due diligence

Loan files in a pool being bought or sold reviewed against the purchase criteria and investor guidelines, with every exception documented and linked to its page.

Portfolio boarding and servicing transfers

Loans acquired or transferred boarded from their files and the prior servicer's data, with every field checked against the documents and the exceptions listed for your team.

Credit policy assistant

An assistant that answers underwriters' and servicers' questions from your own credit policy, procedures and investor guides, with the source of every answer.

These are examples of what we can build for lenders. Pick one up as-is, have it tailored to you or suggest something entirely new.

Where to start

The best first system has high volume, clear rules and decisions your people already make, so its accuracy can be measured. That usually means total-loss recovery or call compliance review for mortgage and auto lenders, spreading for commercial lenders and rent roll normalization for CRE lenders.

The 4-week Opportunity Evaluation tests that choice on your own files before anything is built and says so if a product you already run would serve you better.

Questions and answers for lenders

Does it make credit or collections decisions?
Credit decisions, risk ratings, collections strategy and every decision on a borrower's account stay with your team and your policies. The systems read, check, draft and hold conversations within limits you set; scoring borrowers or predicting default is outside our practice.
Do you work with private credit and debt funds?
Direct lenders, private credit funds and CRE debt funds do much the same document work as banks, and the systems are built around their own templates and investor reporting.
Will it work with our origination and servicing systems?
The systems connect to your loan origination, servicing, dialer and document systems, and the evaluation confirms how before anything is built.
How is borrower data protected?
Everything runs in your own cloud account and reads borrower data in place. The model and data retention terms are agreed with you, and we're happy to sign an NDA before you share anything sensitive.

A senior team that has done this before

We are a small, entirely senior team with fifty years of combined AI engineering, multiple granted patents and Y Combinator founders, from Yale, MIT, McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft and Vista Equity Partners. The people who scope your work are the people who write the code.

Selected work

We built the AI transformation roadmap for a top-50 P&C brokerage, and it is saving the firm millions of dollars in vendor fees it did not need to pay.

Clients include some of the largest banks, RIAs, fintechs and AI labs, as well as a top-3 P&C carrier, a top-10 P&C brokerage, a top-5 trucking brokerage, a leading specialty MGA and a leading trucking MGA.

We run only 3 to 5 engagements at a time, so that every client works directly with the senior team.
