How it works in practice
The system reads, extracts and compares, then shows a person its result with the evidence behind it. Each acceptance, correction or rejection is recorded, both as an audit trail and as data for measuring the system.
Earning autonomy
Once a system's accuracy on a category of work has been measured over enough real cases, routine items can skip review. Exceptions and low-confidence results still go to a person, and autonomy is extended one workflow or line of business at a time.
Why it matters in financial services
Binding a policy, approving a loan or closing an AML alert carries regulatory, contractual or errors and omissions consequences, so accountability must stay with licensed or authorized people. Human in the loop lets the system do the work while those people make the decisions.
Where automation helps
The thresholds that decide what goes to a person should sit with you rather than the vendor, on a dashboard you control. Autonomy then rises only as fast as the evidence supports.
